Charles und Ray Eames: ESU Bookshelf

1949 entwickelten Charles und Ray Eames ein neuartiges System von freistehenden, multifunktional nutzbaren Regalen, die - ähnlich wie das zur gleichen Zeit gebaute Eames House - konsequent nach den Prinzipien industrieller Serienproduktion konstruiert waren: die Eames Storage Units (ESU). Zusammen mit dem Eames Office und der niederländischen Designerin Hella Jongerius wurde eine sorgfältig aufeinander abgestimmte neue Farbkomposition ausgewählt, die ESU einen frischen, zeitgemäßen Ausdruck geben und dennoch den Geist der 1940er- und 1950er Jahre transportieren.

Materialien und Eigenschaften des ESU Bookshelf

Die Böden sind aus Formschichtholz in Ahorn furniert und lackiert; die Blenden sind farbig lackiert und die Metalloberflächen gebürstet und verchromt. Die Füße sind höhenverstellbar.

ESU ist in unterschiedlichen Größen erhältlich. Ergänzend zum ESU Shelf gibt es außerdem das ESU Bookcase und die Eames Desk Unit (EDU).
